Join us in bringing adoptee voices to education

Educators, students, and Side by Side are working together to bring adult adoptee voices into teaching, research, and writing.

Join us as we work to improve and change understanding of inter-country and transracial adoption. Adoptee voices critically inform the study of social work, psychology, sociology, anthropology, ethnic studies, Asian studies, education, communication, and more.

Help us present adoptee voices with the impact and weight of filmed, first-person, raw and unfiltered stories—100 stories, 11 short films, and more from Side by Side.

Contribute to a growing collection of adoptee-informed study guides, lesson plans, learning objectives, and resources that bring valuable context to the stories of Side by Side.

“Side by Side: Out of a South Korean Orphanage and Into the World” is a compelling 38-minute introduction to this project. What happens when the lives of children are re-set by adoption, sent to grow up in new countries and families of a different race, language, and culture? Nine Korean adoptees reveal a stark and often emotionally fraught journey representing decades of inter-country adoption.
